Prayer For Artists

Prayer for Artists

Blessed John Paul, as a man with many personal artistic gifts, you understood the artists heart.  In your letter to artists, you involved all artist to feel themselves united in a particular way to the Father’s creativity.  You challenged artists to see their gifts as signs of a creative vocation that has been entrusted to them.  May all artists find joy in putting their creative gifts at the service of their neighbor in expressing the wonder and mystery of God, present even in the darkest aspects of human experience.  May the face of Christ, the icon that makes visible the beauty and mercy of God, inspire the creative work of all  people of faith.  Amen.

War: Swearing in Faith and Loyalty

War movies usually depict the value of loyalty and faith.

1. It embodies how troop members protect and support each other.

The leader of a fighting force must be very strong and should mark a will of martyrdom for the goal/cause he stands for. No wealth can ever buy his loyalty, but his oath only to God, for his men, and to the mission's goal.

The members of the troop must treat each other like one's very own blood. More than that, to work on which they were sent for by the master. These squires will be to continue the task anointed them, for the people.

War pictures teach profound lessons in life. It is not only about the use of weapons, a taste of brutality, cannibalism, or crucifying a soldier, but it is laying into the present time, something that happened in the past.

War films connote history, culture, and evolution. It proves how men fight for territories and how they could become saints or sinners. Men could be self-serving and greedy, or they could be respectable leaders to other men, who would push progress for the human race. Progress, is nothing evil or oppressive. Progress is free, wise, and beneficial for all.

Check the following.

Iron Clad

A small group of Knights Templar fight to defend Rochester Castle against the tyrannical King John. The movie stars Paul Giamatti, Jason Flemyng, and Brian Cox. Screenplay is by Jonathan English, Erick Kastel, and Stephen McDool. Jonathan English directs.

The Devil's Double

The movie is bold. It trigger's a lot of excitement for the audience. Dominic Cooper is real fascinating in the double roles. Lee Tamahori, the director shows a clear contrast in the double roles of Latif Yahia and Uday Hussein.

Best War Films

Full Metal Jacket by Stanley Kubrick
Thought: Loyalty to the end!

Paths of Glory
Thought: One troop is also one family of soldiers.

The Last Samurai
Thought: There is no barrier in honesty and service to men. Brave soldiers fight for truth.

The Thin Red Line
Thought: There is more in a war. It is more than life. It is freedom in service. True rest is only with God.

Saving Private Ryan starred by multi-awarded actor Tom Hanks
Thought: Faith will make you strong in any fight for truth.

The Patriot
Thought: If you've been gifted with courage, you must be chosen by heaven. Many depend on you.

Born on the Fourth of July
Thought: Serving the country is noble work.

Schindler's List
Thought: Watch out for those people with black hearts. They should never be public servants.

Apocalypse Now (from Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness)
Thought: Serenity is most profound. See Kung Fu Panda.

The Hurt Locker
Thought: We all work together side by side. Each has a role to play. God see's how we dutifully perform our tasks for each other.

2. One brave war soldier I've recently met says, "In a place that is a war zone, there are no lights. There is no Christmas.

After dusk, it is a total blackout. People live and hunt for food that will only suffice them for one day. It is a simple life of faith."

3. Dear God,

We pray for the soldiers.

We pray for peace among nations.

We pray for love and unity for all men.

Send, O Lord, holy workers into your church!
